Terror in a small town

We live in a small town in Maine. Nothing really ever happens here. Today, however, it did.

Last week a man was stopped at a routine traffic stop checking for seatbelts. He pulled a gun on an officer and got away. There was a manhunt for him all day the following day and the schools in the district were closed, and the nearby schools were on lockdown. He was never caught.

Today, he went into my daughters school and held the 5th grade class hostage! They locked down the school and got all the other kids out immediately. He had 11 kids for around an hour or more. He had a loaded semiautomatic weapon. Thankfully, he has been taken into custody with no injuries.

My daughter is home safe and sound.

Here is a link to what happened.

L&L finish

I am so happy with the way this turned out. I substituted gold braid for the white beads around the edges, and I just love the way it turned out.

Too funny!

My husband, Todd, takes Kimber to her soccer practice every week. This week he was talking to another man there about hunting (my husband's passion). The other gentleman said, "Well I was planning to go hunting today, but soccer comes first. You know..isn't it great being a Grandfather!" Todd said, "Umm, I'm not a Grandfather, I'm a stepfather".

Todd is a year younger than I am but his gray hair makes him look older. I think it is hysterical!

Minus one

This used to hang on the inside door of our mudroom. Apparently it fell off and the dog chewed it up. She really worked on it too, it was totally unidentifiable. She is a 2yo Golden Retriever who will not stop chewing. She's chewed up blankets, quilts, afghans, pretty much anything made of fabric. She has baskets and baskets of toys and bones, but she prefers fabric. All I can say is I'm so glad it wasn't Paradigm Lost or the Scenic Farm or something like that. This is where she is going to spend all of her time if she doesn't smarten up soon!

Finally finished

but not with out a HUGE number of mistakes. Some I fixed, some I didn't. Since is it is only a Christmas ornament, I decided not to frog it all. I think the mistakes blend in nicely. Hahahaha. Oh well...at least it's done! I'm still not so sure about linen. The link to the freebie is here.

EMS Rose Sampler SAL finished!

I can't express how much I will miss this. I enjoyed every stitch. I think it came out beautifully. I did "adjust" the chart a bit with the butterflies and the weird looking "A". I can't wait to see what she has planned next! Sorry the color is so weird. I couldn't get a decent pic to save my life!

Frustrated

I am so frustrated with linen. It is getting the best of me. I ripped out the bottom section of this at least 5 times, and there is still a mistake but I just couldn't bring myself to ripping it out again. I don't know why I have such a hard time with linen, but I sure do. This is a freebie from here but I seriously don't know if I will bother finishing it.

Happiest of Holidays

These are from JCS Halloween preview issue. I never received my Christmas Ornament issue and I'm kind of bummed but I know if I buy one, my copy will arrive. I really don't have time to start something new anyway.

Busy weekend

Megan and Me.

Ugly but delicious bagels.

Megan, Josh, Kimber, Todd and I went apple picking on Saturday, then I made 2 pies and apple crisp.

On Sunday I made "homemade bagels" using premade pizza dough. I got the idea from another blog, but I can't remember which one. They are delicious! Crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. Yummo!

I tried to load pics of the pies but it keeps turning it sideways. Anyone know how to fix that?

I've got some stitching done on the EMS SAL. I was hoping to finish it this weekend but there has been too much going on.

Kimber's soccer team had a game today too. They lost by 2 goals, but played much better than last game so at least they are making progress.
